Privacy policy
Effective date: August 1, 2026· Last updated: August 1, 2026
This site (dominict.net) is the personal website of Dominic Thomas. It is maintained by me personally. Views expressed here are my own and are not those of my employer.
I have deliberately kept this site's data collection minimal.
What this site does not do
This site does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, social media trackers, or third-party cookies. I do not build profiles of visitors, and I do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to anyone, for any purpose.
What is collected
1. Information you send me. If you use the contact form or email me, I receive what you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, and the content of your message. This is voluntary; you can read this site without submitting anything.
2. Server logs. Like nearly all websites, my hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, referring page, and date and time. These logs are generated by the host for security and reliability purposes, not by me for tracking, and I do not use them to identify individual visitors.
How it is used
Contact-form and email information is used solely to read and respond to your message, and to maintain ordinary correspondence records. It is not added to any mailing list and is not used for any unrelated purpose. Server logs are used only to keep the site running and secure.
Retention
Correspondence is retained for as long as it is professionally relevant, and deleted when it is not. Server logs are retained according to my hosting provider's standard retention period. You may ask me to delete our correspondence at any time.
Who else sees it
Only the service providers required to operate the site — my web host ([HOST NAME]) and my email provider ([EMAIL PROVIDER]) — which process this information on my behalf under their own privacy terms. I will otherwise disclose information only if required by law, or where necessary to protect the security of the site.
Security
I take reasonable measures to protect information sent to me, including serving this site over HTTPS. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive personal information, confidential research data, or student records through the contact form. If you are a student at Kennesaw State University, contact me through official university channels for anything relating to your enrollment or coursework.
Your rights
Wherever you are located, you may contact me at the email listed on this site or via LinkedIn to ask what information I hold about you, to request a correction, or to request deletion. I will honor reasonable requests.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: I am the data controller for this site. My legal basis for processing contact information is your consent and my legitimate interest in responding to correspondence; my legal basis for server logs is legitimate interest in site security. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident: I do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and I have not done so in the preceding twelve months. You may exercise your rights to know, delete, and correct by emailing me. I will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Children
This site is directed at a general and academic audience and is not intended for children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from children.
External links
This site links to other websites — publishers, journals, co-authors, repositories, and university pages. I am not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Their policies govern once you leave this site.
Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above will reflect any revision.

Text and data mining, AI, and machine learning
I expressly reserve all text and data mining rights, including for the purposes of Article 4(3) of EU Directive 2019/790, and I do not authorize this reservation to be overridden by any platform's default terms.
The content of this site may not be used to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or ground generative AI or machine learning systems, and may not be collected by automated scrapers or crawlers for those purposes. This applies whether the resulting system is commercial or non-commercial. Standard search engine indexing is permitted.
Third-party and publisher materials
Some materials here — particularly published articles and book chapters — are subject to copyright held by their publishers, and are posted under the self-archiving terms those publishers permit. Where a publisher's terms apply, those terms govern and the permissions above do not extend to that item. Where co-authors are listed, their rights are unaffected by these terms.
